Supporting the trans-European deployment of the Information
he Community TEN-Telecom action aims at stimulating the
market deployment of trans-European telecommunications applications and services of the
Information Society in domains of public interest, which have a potential for viability
and socio-economic benefits.
TEN-Telecom addresses priority areas for the benefit of
citizens, enterprises and administrations such as healthcare, education and training,
services to SMEs, transport and mobility, access to Europes culture heritage,
environment and emergency management, city and regional networks. The trans-European
dimension of the applications and services is supported by fixed, mobile and satellite
networks and by their open interconnection in the global telecommunications networks.
The Community intervention aims at reducing the risk
associated to the marketability phase inside the project life cycle, helping business plan
finalisation for the investment decision, or the initial investment on the start-up market
Mature and well defined projects are considered, also
derived from successful R&D results, and proposed by private-public partnerships. The
next TEN-Telecom call for proposals will be published in March 2000.
