Wireless Application Protocol
WAP is the de facto world wide standard for providing Internet
communications and advanced telephony services on digital mobile phones, pagers, personal
digital assistants and other wireless terminals. Finland, which has the highest
penetration of mobile phones and Internet connections in the world, is spearheading the
WAP development and among the first to bring applications and services to the marketplace.
The WAP demonstrations are set up by the Helsinki Telephone Corporation, its subsidiary
Radiolinja, Sonera and Nokia.
