The National Tampere Multimedia
Competition is Finland's biggest and aim is to find new, innovative multimedia works. The
main prize is FIM 100,000. The evaluation process of products has been developed by
Digital Media Institute and the Tampere School of Art and Media in co-operation with the
Hypermedialaboratory of the University of Tampere. The prizes have been financed together
with the City of Tampere, Alma Media, ICL, Neles Automation, Nokia, Sonera, Tampere
Technology Centre, Tampere Telephone, Tieto Corporation, TV2 and Veikkaus.
The main prize winners of 1997 were Tietovalta Ltd. and
Mediacompany Sansibar Ltd. In 1998 the winning product was produced by Sarajärvi &
Hellen Ltd. and Intelligame Ltd. The 1999 winners were named during the MindTrek-Tampere
International Media Week on 19 November.
