Neuromag develops and manufactures magnetoencephalography (MEG) devices
that can locate brain functions by measuring the minute magnetic fields generated by the
neurons. The system is based on highly sensitive Superconducting Quantum Interference
Devices (SQUIDs) that operate at liquid helium temperature.
An important part of the system is the Neuromag Software package. This incorporates
facilities for basic brain research and clinical routine work. The former includes
cognitive and psychological measurements and the latter, epilepsy diagnosis and
pre-surgical evaluation of brain tumour patients.
Neuromag MEG systems currently operate in Finland, Germany, Japan and the USA.
